She Suggested Pittsburgh

from Homeless Songs by Paris Street

/

about

"She" was a girl named Megan. She had talked about going to Pittsburgh to attend nursing school. A couple weeks earlier, she had visited the city with her boyfriend and was surprised at how much she liked it there. I'm pretty certain that she never ended up moving.

Pittsburgh truly is a great city, by the way. Same goes with Albuquerque.

lyrics

The foolishness of Albuquerque begins to sound more wise
She suggested Pittsburgh, but she's not around tonight

Fly in for a couple days and browse the neighborhoods
Sell off my possessions and leave this place for good

In lieu of a good woman, I need an ever-changing scene
A shifting of environments to keep my mind at ease

But there is no good woman here - at least, not good for me
It's taken too long to accept that grim reality

She suggested Pittsburgh and I almost thought her right
It pains me to stop caring but I'll give it my best try
