Words 01:40
I lost the words But I've still got the melodies Believe in me Believe in me Please believe in me Again
2.
In a successful attempt to reclaim my throne As the king of opportunities blown I left a scorched-earth trail of put-off deadlines Highlight slam dunks from the wrong foul line I’ve taken the lead in not taking the hint Found creative new ways to have the signals missed A catalog of faults I’m fully conscious of But not acting on any change at all I wait on others to make the first move Then complain about waiting for them to make the first move Then wait some more while feeling bereft Trudging back towards a steady hopelessness If a monument to doubt were ever designed The figure on the pedestal would surely be mine Kicking myself and almost falling off Not worth the making at all And if a silver lining could be found Don’t you think I’d have found it by now In the growing comfort of my role As the king of opportunities blown Counting up all the unnoticed signs Is the most initiative I’ve shown in some time At the very least maybe it's a story told To garner a couple chuckles years down the road A bittersweet return on investments made Likely not worth the waiting at all And if a silver lining could be found Don’t you think I’d have found it by now Don’t you think I’d have found it by now

Stationary 03:08
in a state of detroit disarray disconnected from the 'home' another summer on well-worn motorways eyes on all but the road re-acclimation from months spent as ghosts back to the concept of the friend it might be fun, but it won't take long, i know before we're ghosts again give me a shot, give me another cigarette a reminder of the miles we drove before the days unwillingly make us forget before the comfort takes hold it's still too soon, it's still not long enough too disconnected from the 'home' going through the motions of another day’s tough eyes on nothing but the road

We made our way into Madison Then improvised our way onto State We shopped until the shops were closed Then hung out by the lake And the feeling was getting stronger now As we searched for a place to stay And bedtime was quickly becoming My favorite part of the day And as things turned to serious In the comfort of the dark You had just started your period So we could only go so far And that's okay It's the thought that counts And tonight our thoughts are dirtier Than an old longshoreman's mouth We traipsed along the bluffs Then crossed the state line A long overdue smile on your face And your hand in mine As we drove through Minneapolis And the city drowned the stars You said you were really happy just The way things almost are And that's okay As we stopped for the night In a cheap St Cloud motel room Were 'almost' became 'alright' Oh, I'm always in love It's a stupid thing to say Sometimes it hurts like hell But I wouldn't have it any other way And that's okay But now's not the time To dwell on past experiences We'll save that for another drive
5.
This river lacks the romance that it once had A warm park bench inviting integration On a faded springtime night With two fingers inside A gentle moan of affirmation The rain turns to a drizzle then comes to an end The wind and trees in casual conversation A sky of airplane lights And quiet satellites We're left alone to our infatuations You've got to learn somewhere And if not here, then where? Now the rocks are littered with bottles and cans The water brown from unknown infestation The old oak trees are bare There's dog shit everywhere And posted signs to note our violations (motherfucker)

Hotel Song 05:21
Well, the fella at the front desk gave me a weird look I could that tell he was skeptical When I set down my cash, well, nothing had changed He was still looking at me all disdainful I was disheveled, I didn't have any bags at all And my home was just a few miles away I just needed someplace else to stay I checked out my room and then headed on out To get some beers from the convenience store And upon returning a quick phone call was made Soon I was letting you in through the back door On this night you were of the same mind as I You were having a horrible day You just needed someplace else to stay We weren't there to discuss the problems we had Or to bitch, moan, rant, or to scream I had no idea what was bothering you And you had no clue what was bothering me Our focus was on the cable tv And the beer that was now in the sink You still weren't old enough to go out and drink There was no funny business intended or expected Honestly the thought was not on our minds But we were close enough friends that it was okay If we held each other tight So with the tv still on and the beer mostly gone We maintained our embrace as we slept It was exactly what we both needed It was exactly what we both needed
7.
Is this the start of something big Or just a slight digression From our everyday routines Simply a false impression It happens every now and then And yet nothing changes Oh well what did you expect It’s nothing new It takes so long to finally Spend some time together Plans fall apart constantly It’s less ‘now’ and more ‘never’ And if we could only make things work On a consistent basis It’s so ridiculous it hurts Is there still time Another lunch engagement missed For another silly reason If we were to put a name to this We could call it ‘flake-out season’ For a moment it felt like Things were actually working And now it feels like it just might Never return
8.
The nighttime dissolves into raindrops and lightning My room is a mess but it's no less inviting There's no better thing we can do Than make out in my messy room The feeling is there and on this we're united We shan't hesitate, there's no need to deny it My hands will show you where to go I promise that no one will know
9.
Well, I dreamt of you last night Gently kissing everything worth gently kissing And you were happy, oh you were happy And I couldn't be happier to wake up Because even though it still feels right These dreams will not give me any benefit Because you will not be here tonight There'll be no part of you to gently kiss I've had my share of folly Seen enough of sadness and defeat And I must say, 'by golly You'd think these things would get easier as events repeat' You said that I had lots of heart You'd think that that would get me very far But no Do you recall that first great morning after Lying naked on the bed My arm around your shoulder As you ran your long thin fingers across my chest And the patterns that the hairs there made Reminded you of summers at the beach And the creatures you avoided As the salty Gulf came sweeping past your feet We made love again as a rain began The water brushed against the window pane And the sound of cars passing over wet asphalt Reminded you of waves You said that I had lots of heart It did not get me very far Oh no Oh there's a god above, there's a god above There's a goddamn love that ended far too soon There's a god above, there's a god above There's a goddamn love that ended far too soon You said that I had lots of heart But it's only in dream that I go far

Dillon #3 03:41
I’ll go back if you want me to An alpine lake at altitude Where we had a lovely night With cigarettes and chardonnay A guitar I could hardly play Strummed in moonlight The temperature dropped swiftly and I could barely feel my hands Still I played everything That you wanted to hear And I never looked up in time To see a meteoroid go by A narrow streak gone in a flash A moment never meant to last All the stars saw our nervous dance The wait for one to take a chance And act on the obvious The cold helped to push things forth We moved closer and felt the shivers course Through each of us The temperature kept dropping and I was so glad to hold your hand And keep it warm with mine As the chance appeared The feeling finally was too strong An impulse fought back far too long A perfect, freezing moment shared We kissed and kissed and went from there I’ll go back if you go back, too An alpine lake with beer can views We can skip the guitar Or is that firmly in the past Just another moment as fleeting as A shooting star

about

The fifth of seven albums to be released this year as part of the band's 15th anniversary.

This collection consists of songs we were working on between the release of our debut album in 2009 and a point in late 2013 where it seemed like the band was over. Fun times.
